All About Earthquakes School Gallery Talk
Have our knowledgeable Gallery Interpreters talk to your class about how not all earthquakes are created equal. Students will:
- View satellite images of Haiti before and after the earthquake and discover how
rescue workers are using satellite images to aid in their mission.
- Use hands on models and animations on “The Magic Planet.”
- Learn about plate tectonics and the forces that cause earthquakes.
- Learn how to locate places on a map and then map out where Earthquakes usually occur.
- Discover what earthquakes and volcanoes have in common.
- Try your hand at using our own home-made seismometer.
- Learn how the Richter Scale measures the strength of earthquakes.
- Discover what the risk of having an earthquake occur in Canada is.
